Any team staff member can start live streaming video of their team's games in GameChanger Team Manager with just a few taps. Creating a video stream is a free feature for team staff. Right now, team members do not need a paid subscription to view video live streams. Video live streams will be made available for fans to view at a later date.
How to Start a Video Live Stream
- Select the team that you want to start a live stream for.
- After selecting the team, navigate to the Video tab.
- From within the Video tab, select the Go Live button.
- You will be redirected to the live stream view and, if this is your first time, will be asked to grant GameChanger Team Manager permission to use your device’s camera and microphone.
- If you accept both of these, then you will be taken to a new screen with a Start Live Video button. Hitting that button will start the live stream.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What does it cost for staff members to live stream games?
A: There is no cost for staff members to live stream games.
Q: Who can see the live streamed games?
A: Right now, only confirmed team members can see the streamed games. This means that only family members and players (for teams whose age group allows for players to have their own account) can see the videos.
Q: Can I score games while streaming video?
A: You cannot score and live stream simultaneously from one device. You will need to have a second device on-hand to score the game. Your viewers will be able to see the score while watching the video live stream. We recommend frequently updating your viewers with relevant statistics while you are recording the game.
Q: What happens if I leave the app while streaming?
A: If you put the app in the background for any reason (opening a new app, taking a phone call, answering a text, etc) then the stream will pause for all viewers. Viewers will receive a message saying that the stream is paused. Once you return to the app you will be able to resume streaming.
Q: What happens if I lose my cellular/WiFi connection?
A: If you lose your connection while streaming, the stream will pause for viewers. They will get a message saying that the stream has been paused. You will be able to resume streaming once you have a strong enough connection.
Q: What is the best way to stream a game?
A: We recommend that you are connected to the internet via a stable WiFi connection. You can also use cellular data to stream, but please note that this may consume multiple GB of data. To avoid this, you may want to consider using a mobile hotspot. We also recommend streaming the game in landscape mode to provide a wider view to your audience.
Q: Will I be able to re-watch live streamed games after they're over?
A: At this time, live streamed games will not be saved in the app.
