Live Streaming From An External Camera (Insecure)

Streamers can now use external cameras that are not able to use RTMPS streaming protocol with GameChanger while live streaming video of their teams from iOS and Android devices using the less secure RTMP protocol.

The following external cameras listed below are known to work with RTMP while live streaming through GameChanger:

• Pixellot
• Veo

This method will also work with devices using RTMPS as well.

Stream Keys and URLs are specific to each event you stream for, therefore the instructions below will need to be repeated for every event streamed from an external device.

When streaming using an external camera using an RTMP URL and Key, generated by GameChanger, users are dependent on the software of the camera manufacturer. In that streaming setup, settings such as focus, resolution, and zoom are those of the device manufacturer. Unfortunately, controlling those settings is out of our application's control. Please reach out to your respective manufacturer to resolve any issues with those features.

Using Insecure RTMP Ingest

1. Select the appropriate team.
2. Navigate to the Schedule tab and select the event that you wish to stream for.
3. Tap the Record Video button.
   
4. If you haven’t previously used the feature, grant GameChanger permission to use your device’s camera and microphone.
5. Choose External Camera from the Select video source screen.
   
   
6. Set the audience you wish to stream to.  More about audience controls here.
7. Tap Continue to External Camera Setup.
   
   
8. Scroll to the bottom of the page and tap Switch To Insecure Ingest (RTMP).
   
9. Please read the warning and select Continue.
10. Open the app to control your External camera devices and follow the steps from your camera to set up live streaming.
11. Navigate back to the GameChanger app and copy the Full RTMP URL or RTMP URL and RTMP Stream Key depending on your camera's set-up.
12. Navigate back to the camera app and paste the Full RTMP URL or RTMP URL and RTMP Stream Key.
13. Complete the streaming setup depending on your camera.
14. You can view your stream from within the GameChanger app by tapping into the Live tile.
15. To end your stream you must do so from within the camera’s app.
